Byron Smith family monument.

A young maiden looks to the horizon, holding an anchor with rope intertwined in her left hand, and clutching her cape in her right. She looks as if she were waiting for her loved one to come home from the sea. Her pedistal is made of dark grey marble, with the family names and dates inscribed around it. At the foot of the octagonal-shaped base
are markers for the family plot.

Anchors were usually reserved for men that made their living with the sea-Navy, Merchant Marines or fishermen. B. Smith was a fisherman who went down with his boat c.1895.

As you're heading down the main street this monument lies at the crossroads.
