The Harrop family
This is one of the finest examples I've found for the prefabricated metal
'stones' that became popular in the 1890s. The family ordered them in pieces,
and it was assembled graveside. The front has a plaque that was mounted with
the deceased's name and dates. This was embellished with Old English writing,
scrollwork over the plaque, and a spoke-like half-wheel design over the scrollwork
in a crest style. Pocasset Cemetary runs partially parallel to St. Ann's
Catholic Cemetary, also in Cranston, and is visible from the fence.
This is on the right side of the cemetery, to the right of the road (not visible in this photo.)
