I thought this stone was truly interesting.......was this some sort of mistake at the engravers, and they just decided to let it go? Since you can't erase mistakes in stone, I wonder why they hadn't done another one instead of this one.....could it be for fancy ornamentation instead of a mistake?
The Angel of Death has its eyes open, wings furled; two scrolls of ivy are on both sides of this reddish-tan slate stone with a chip (most likely due to wear) on the left side. The epitaph reads:

"In memory of Mr.
THOMAS YATES ("s" squiggles on the name)
Dec'd May 7, 1777,
in ye 77th year of his Age."


This is, again, in the oldest part of the cemetery, in the back.
