Governor Samuel Ward King (1786-1851)

This is the front of the monument. Gov. King served from 1840-43, and is buried here, along with his wife Catherine L. Angell (1793-1841). Their children are inscribed on the right of this monument (not shown here.) Behind them, in the gated area, are more of the King family. The stone itself is in somewhat good condition, being made of what looks to be sandstone. The emblem in the front is a relatively late addition to the grave, having been placed there in 1939.
